The subject of wildlife photography hold a wide range of individual preferences. In general you will require at
least a 200-mm zoom lens to get anything more than
general landscape pictures at kanha. Ideally it is best
to outfit yourself with a minimum of two lenses. For
example 28-80 mm of wide-angle shots and a zoom lens (100-300 mm) for close-ups of animals and the larger
birds. Be sure to protect your camera, lenses, and film
from the dust. Bring a supply of plastic bags, and don’t
change lenses or film in bright sunlight or while moving
in an open vehicle. Beanbags, monopods, and tripods may
be useful for stability, depending on your equipment and
the quality of the images for which you are aiming.
It’s
a good idea to bring more film than you thing you will
need. Don’t forget to pack at least one extra camera battery. Remember that the use of flash is prohibited
inside the park.
It is
virtually impossible to get a good shot of an animal if
your vehicle is moving or if the engine is on, causing
vibration. Insist that your driver stop and turn off the
motor. If you’re really serious about photography with a
zoom lens, try to arrange a private vehicle, since other
people may cause camera shake, even if they shift
positions only slightly in their seats.
Try to
tour the park in an open car, such as a Maruti, Gypsy or a land River. Inside a closed car, your opportunities for photography will be fare more limited.
