RANTHAMBHORE NATIONAL PARK
Famous for the exciting and frequent tiger sightings
captured dramatically in several books, this park is
today affected by ecological pressures and poaching.
Nevertheless, it is a highly photogenic park. Chhattris
(projecting balconies) and other structures dot the
landscape and the 1000-year-old Ranthambore fort,
perched on a 2300 metre-high cliff, forms a delightful
back drop to the lakes and forests. At the junction of
the Aravalli and Vindhya hill range, this is one of the
finest places to view animals, especially as they are
used to being stared at here. sambar, chital,
nilgai, chinkara, wild boar,
langur, muggers, peacocks and gray
partridges are frequent sights. Tiger and
leopard, with luck, can also be spotted.
