The river attracts a number of avian species, storks,
pintails, pond herons, egrets are
among the water birds, whereas the peafowl,
jungle fowl, spurfowl, partridges and
quails are the common ground laying bird. Green
pigeons and rock pigeons are also numerous. Rollers,
bee-eaters, drongos, warblers,
kingfishers, woodpeckers, finches,
orioles and flycatchers are represented by
several species. Eagles and kites are the birds of prey, whereas the vultures
are scavengers. Several species of owls, owlets and night jars, represent the birds of the
night.
HOW TO REACH:-
The tiger reserve office is at the nearest town,
Panna, 25 km from Madla and Hinauta. Nearest railway
station is Satna, 91 km, a 1-hour drive to Panna; Jhansi
is 200 km (4-5 hours by road to Khajuraho or Panna).
Nearest airport is Khajuraho, 57 km away.

The best period to visit this beautiful place is
between October to April.
